PI needs a bit of love yes, but it is fine in the grand scheme of things.
(a) Command Centers do have enough power to function economical. Adding more CPU / powergrid would only mean you can produce more, which in urn would decrease prices per unit on the market.
(e) Again, making this more efficient just means more supply with same demand.
What I would really like to see (and hope it comes with the new structures, when they replace the POCOs)
- Being able to contract things that are located in a POCO so that the contract can be picked up by someone else or my alt - Maybe even selling to the market directly from the POCO
This would increase player interaction during PI drastically. I could simply put on everything I produce on that planet directly onto the market or buy stuff other produce there and process it further. It would open up new possibilities for haulers (bring my PI from A to B). etc.pp.
Mind you that at some point someone would still have to get all stuff out of the POCO and bring it elsewhere. So for the people who cry that this would make PI so much safer, it really wouldn't, but it would make it easier to create logistics networks between players and open up the PI market in a new, fascinating way.
I'm actually quite fine with the output of PI. PI is a passive activity, mind you, that involves very little effort and little risk, even in 0.0 or WH space, but you can get quite some money out of it if done corectly. The most difficult thing about PI is doing the spreadsheet warrior thingy until you have created a well working production line with your skills / number of accounts in the area you live in. That can be hard, but once you set it up, its easily 400M per char per month for doing almost nothing (5d cycle time any1?).
You aleady have the aspect of producing things in a POS. PI goods are needed for various modules you can produce in the POS. So there isn't really a need to make PI itself require a POS. Just keep for P4 goods and use them yourself for manufacturing.
Yeah, maybe you can add some specialized skills to PI for getting better at certain points of PI. But other then a time sink, that doesn't give you compelling gameplay, either. |
